By Brett · Comments (0)

There was no mistaking that it was October in the Volunteer State. Just a little chill in the air and spectacular blue skies. Savannah and I had another playful day. I snapped this shot during one of our excursions outdoors:

Choose It!When you stop and think about it we should be in awe of all the opportunities we have in today’s world. The only problem is choosing wisely to live abundantly. The other day I ran across a neat little tool that will help you make the best decision in any situation. In a simple three-step process you can quickly make important business, financial, even life-changing decisions.

No kidding!

It brings amazing clarity, your own clarity, to any complex question or problem. People have used it to…

  • make crucial business decisions
  • select career paths for their adult children
  • pick the best web host for their new site
  • make the monumental decision about what to have for lunch (bacon sandwich or cheese sandwich or bacon and cheese sandwich).

The tool is called Choose It!

Start your online business for 33 cents on the dollar!

By Brett · Comments (0)

Ok, I want to tell you a little bit about how I started building my web presence and business, but I’m more excited about the opportunity that YOU have to get start your own successful online business. Hint: YOU can start your own web business the same way I did, but but between now and midnight on Halloween you can SLASH your up front investment by 66%. . .Sound interesting? I thought so!

First though I want to a little about my story.

I have always been interested in computers and I spent my share of time playing PC games, etc. in the early 90′s. I was a little bit slow to see the commercial potential of the internet, but about four years ago I started looking around for ways to make money online.

My problem (I thought) was that I didn’t know HTML or anything about networks or web server software, etc. As it turns out that was really not a problem at all. . .I’ll tell you why later. Read More→

Scripture Distribution

By Brett · Comments (0)
Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

When I was in the fifth grade, the Gideons came to my school and gave me a little red New Testament Bible.  I always cherished that copy of God’s Word and admired the men who gave of their time to visit my school.

That is why I was honored to be invited to the Gideons. Today I have come full circle.  I participated in my second scripture distribution and we distributed scriptures to local fifth graders.  Each and every one (forty-five in all at the school I personally visited) gladly accepted a red Testament.  Please pray that the doors to our schools stay open to this ministry.

Learn more about the Gideons here.

An Incredible Sunday

By Brett · Comments (0)
Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

SavannahA couple of weeks ago when we arrived at church my three year old, Savannah said “Daddy, it’s going to be an incredible day isn’t it?” I said “It sure is sweetheart. Today is what ever you make of it”. Sunday’s are always incredible, but when she said that I just had a little “moment” there. Besides the fact that she had used a really big word for a three year old, I realized that if we could all wake up with that kind of outlook on life every day. . .even two or three days out of the week, this world would be a much better place.

It’s nice to have a child around to keep you humble, but today I got an added benefit. You see every year about this time I have to spend most of an afternoon picking up walnuts that have fallen off the tree out behind our house. Otherwise I can’t mow the grass. Last year Savannah “helped”, but this year she really made this chore easy for me :)

Savannah picking up walnutsWe were home alone since my wife Amy was out of town, so we were just hanging out in the back yard. When I pointed out the walnut situation (with no intention of actually going into it today), Savannah insisted that she wanted to pick them up. I wasn’t about to look that gift horse in the mouth so I promptly provded her with a suitable container and she went to work. Within just a few minutes the entire area was walnut free and se was asking for more. I assured her that in a couple of weeks the rest would fall and she would have ample opportunity to be helpful. In a way I wish kids would stay this age. . . .

Divine Appointment

By Brett · Comments (0)
Saturday, October 21st, 2006

As Becky fumbled to shut off the annoying alarm clock that had disturbed what little sleep she got last night, the full force of grief hit her again. What would she do now? Her husband had been severly beaten in a robery attempt just a few days before and now lay in critical condition in the hospital.

It seemed as if the whole world was crashing down around her. At least this recent crisis took her mind off some of the worries about her mother who had been admitted to a nursing home a year earlier.

Shaking off the intense urge to stay in bed Becky readied herself for her 8 am class at Columbia State and headed out. She knew it would be difficult to stay focused on her studies, but she pressed on. Read More→

Courage

By Brett · Comments (0)
Friday, October 20th, 2006

My three year old daughter Savannah and I were alone together this evening and I noticed that when I would walk through our house she was always one step behind me. At one point she said “Daddy, I’m scared”. When I quizzed her on the source of her fear I found out that her concern was a common one. She is scared of the dark.

I’m not in the habit of burning every light in the house so there was ample opportunity for her to be faced with the object of her fear. I sympathized with her that I too was scared of the dark when I was about her age. She’s very mature for a three year old so I proceeded to share with her some things she needed to know in order to face the fear and build her courage. Following is a grown up version of the conversation. Read More→

What's the Power of an Hour?

By Brett · Comments (0)
Thursday, October 19th, 2006

I just got off a live teleconference with master of persuasion, Dave Lakhani. He and Ben Mack were training on developing the essence of your brand for your business. Excellent stuff and I can’t wait to go through the process of developing my own brand.

If you’d like to check Dave out start at his Bold Approach site or his Blog.

I don’t have it yet, but I expect to get his new book soon. It’s called Power of an Hour and promises to help you to create consistent and ongoing improvement in your game in just one hour per week. A quote from the site:

The Power of an Hour identifies specific core areas of personal, professional, and business improvement, then guides you through a step-by-step process that keeps you focused so you can reinvent your life and business. The results are fast and predictable.

Power of an Hour is a brand new book and is available at Amazon. If you’ve already read it don’t spoil it for me! :) but do feel free to leave your comments about it. I will review it soon. Stay tuned.

Living to Learn and Learning to Live

By Brett · Comments (1)
Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Are you stuck in a rut? A “life rut” I mean. In my opinion, a rut is simply a grave with the ends kicked out. We all get there sometimes, but one of my general goals is to constantly learn new things. This is my first blog post in my first blog. One of the reasons for this blog is to learn how. . .to blog. So this will be an learning experience in itself. Another goal of mine is to learn to live more, to stop and smell the roses. That’s why I named this blog Living to Learn and Learning to Live. I welcome your comments. Go ahead! Life is too short not to share.
