Tonight we went to Florence Alabama’s ” First Fridays” street festival (I guess you could call it that). They had a stage set up on one of the streets downtown and the first band we saw was the Cicada Screamers. They were pretty good but the main act was better.
The Pine Hill Haints are difficult to describe. Rockabilly? That’s probably close although they describe their own music as Alabama Ghost Music. They have a wash tub bass, wash board and even a saw. Yes, a hand saw. Pretty cool.
I got this shot as we were leaving. I thought the “back lighting” made for an interesting shot. We plan on seeing them again later this summer in St. Florian where the setting is more relaxed and the acoustics are better.
